Verdansk is anticipated to make a comeback in Warzone by 2025.

A recent report has illuminated the timeline for the return of Verdansk, the original map of the battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone. Initially, in late 2023, reports suggested that Verdansk would be reintroduced to Warzone around 2024, shortly following the release of what is now confirmed as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. However, Verdansk’s return may be delayed beyond the previously expected time.

Insider Gaming reports that Verdansk is now slated for an “early 2025” release in Call of Duty: Warzone. Activision had aimed for a December 2024 release for Verdansk’s revival, but this target appears to be postponed. The reasons for this delay are unclear, but it may be as straightforward as choosing a more opportune moment to reintroduce the popular map to maximize player engagement.

The report also mentions that Activision’s decision to bring back Verdansk is influenced by the success of Fortnite OG. Launched in late 2023, Fortnite OG was a temporary mode featuring the original map and weapons of Fortnite, which became the most successful mode ever released by Epic Games, breaking the game’s record for concurrent players. Activision seems to be aiming for a similar nostalgic appeal with the reintroduction of Verdansk to Warzone.

As of now, the plans for Call of Duty: Warzone for the rest of 2024 remain undisclosed. The game’s Season 4 Reloaded update was recently released, introducing new content and changes to the meta. With Season 5 approaching, it will pave the way for the October release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Significant updates to Warzone are expected with BO6’s launch, but further details are yet to be revealed.
